These sciences include geology, geography, geophysics, geochemistry, and environmental engineering. In some of these subjects -- notably the geophysical fields of oceanography, atmospheric science, and solid earth geophysics -- computer capability has advanced far beyond that in the more classical fields of geology and geography, and in such aspects of environmental engineering as soil mechanics and sanitary engineering. The study is concerned mainly with these more classical fields in which computer utilization is least advanced. (Author).
