Byrne writes about the time that he spent as a member of the American Secret Service, the events he witnessed there (during the time of President Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton), and the challenges he faced during his service. Before he starts describing his service, the author briefly introduces his readers to his childhood and the events that eventually lead towards his joining the Secret Service. Crisis of Character is an entirely true story.
