The story follows the group to some of the most beautiful sights of Kauai, including the historic and beautiful Maha'ulepu trail, with treacherous rock formations that convince Fig that Kauai can be dangerous as well as beautiful. Fig and Starlight see whales, beautiful Wailua Falls, and visit the tourist sites and hidden treasures of Kauai. As the week progresses, the danger becomes more imminent, as the two women watch helplessly as the situation deteriorates. Murder seems the inevitable result, until they become so entrenched in the mystery that their own lives are endangered.
