The heart sounds were clear and no murmurs could be detected, but there was marked arhythmia. The pulse rate was 92 in sitting position. There was no edema, no cough. There was a history of rheumatism at 50 years of age, and again the winter before admission. The hands were very thin and rather cool, although she wore gloves and said they were as warm as usual. A diagnosis of senile heart with chronic myocarditis, arhythmia and arteriosclerosis was made. She con tinned to c0me periodically to the dispensary for over four months, still com plaining of palpitation although the pulse became more regular.
