Book excerpt: William Scott was born ca. 1738, according to tradition on the ocean between Ireland and America. He married Helen Montgomery near Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1767. They had four children, 1769-1774. The family migrated from Pennsylvania to the Louisville, Kentucky, area, in 1778 with George Rogers Clark. He helped defend the supplies on Corn Island when Clark conquered Vincennes, Indiana, and the Illinois country. He died in 1804 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Descendants listed lived in Kentucky, Indiana, and elsewhere.
