Because thou hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord thy God to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee. And they shall be upon thee for a sign and a wonder and upon thy seed forever, because thou servest not the Lord thy God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things- Deuteronomy 28:45-47. In the bible passage above, serving people is not serving God. It says because thou hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord thy God, they are rebellious. What did they serve, they served other gods .Because they served other gods, God placed a curse on them. He said because they served not the Lord their God, they are serving other gods which is not the true God so curse shall be on them and it shall be upon their seeds. A lot of people are suffering and are in bondage. I pray that God opens your eyes to understand the message in this book in Jesus name
