Book excerpt: Occult Arcana is a balanced and objective guide to those subjects considered a part of the nature of light and darkness. Addressed in this text is a compilation of material that will provide new perspectives and awaken latent abilities that we all possess. The content herein shall provide magical sustenance for adept and novice alike, and will help strengthen the cornerstone of mystic understanding and alchemical transmutation. The intention of this text is not to mimic the great philosophers, alchemists, physiciansand authors from time immemorial, nor is it meant to deceptively steal their works and passthem off as new. This author has great respect for these men and the few women who haveworked so tirelessly to pass along information to future generations in concealed form. There are perhaps few if any able to write with the elegance or passion of pastgenerations and we are not attempting to do so with inspirations that now seem to rarelyinfluence man.No matter how great a thinker, though, no single man, women, or any text, contains ormaintains the absolute truth. Therefore it is important to remember that what follows in thesepages is merely a dissertation of occult studies and not a comprehensive guide. It is at best aslightly more than superficial overview of matters considered occult. Yet it is an alchemical workable to begin a process of transmutation in the spirit and soul, one that will provide a new, orperhaps a first, perspective on esoteric studies. We strive to revitalize the new world with the same life found in the philosophy andmyth of the old world, and in certain sacred symbols. To define is to place limits, and therefore, true comprehension comes about through theintangible means of silent communication. This work is presented with curious intrigue and passion for light. This lantern of truthwill illuminate the darkness of ignorance and misinformation as we examine the subjects ofphilosophy, theology, science, metaphor, allegory, magic, myth, alchemy, harmony, talismans, charms, enchantments, stones, diabolism, mysticism, wisdom and resurrection.Although esoteric and occult studies remain vast they are rooted within a universalphilosophy that is difficult, if not impossible by finite terms, to explain in words. Language placesrestriction and erects barriers to understandings. By this it is to be understood that there aresome things man should consider far too sacred to profane with definition. For these conceptsand the manner by which we live our lives, we shall take a note from the Greek philosopherPythagoras: "Silence is better than unmeaning words."
