Besides contributing significantly as a source of food energy to the weaker sections of the society, these crops have immense industrial value for extraction of starch and production of animal feed. However, there is a marked decline in the production of these crops in recent years. Hence, emphasis has to be given to the scientific management practices of these crops for achieving a higher production potential.
