In 1909 the great fire in Warrenton Virginia destroyed his summer studio containing 225 paintings and drawings, many of them assembled for an upcoming exhibition. His "Record of Work" enabled creating this chronological photographic exhibit of over 50 selected surviving artworks as a tribute to his memory and achievements. The collection includes styles of Realism, Impressionism and Cubism. You will see in detail his best-known images capturing the life of African Americans following emancipation. Scattered throughout this compilation are his portraits and landscapes. He particularly enjoyed painting landscapes near Warrenton Virginia.
