Carolina and Nicolo had their share of heartaches and happiness over the years. Nicolo was an Army Veteran from the Turkish Italian war. Together the newly married couple traveled from Sicily to America. Once they arrived in the land of the free, they settled in the Woodland area of Cleveland Ohio. Like many young European travelers, it took time to assimilate and plant roots like many immigrants of that time in the early 1920’s. Nicolo had many dreams: he wanted a home, and a neighborhood grocery store, but most of all he wanted a family. With the love of his life by his side, Carolina, they worked hard and achieved many of their goals. Life can be joyous and tragic, and it was for the Salupo family. Together as a family they pulled though tragedy, forging forward in life remembering the true inner strength of Nicolo, who was a husband and their loving father.
