Book excerpt: Samved Samved is said to be complement of Rigved, therefore its importance cannot be less than that of Rigved. That is the reason it is one of the three Vedas (i.e. Rig, Yajur, and Samved). In Gita, preacher Krishna has indicated towards the speciality of Samved by saying 'I am Samved among the Vedas'. The present translation of Samved is based on Sayan's annotation/commentary because Sayan took complete help of traditional knowledge, logic and contemplation to understand the Vedic hymns. Moreover, he has not commented the hymns of Samved like other commentators' coloured views of any 'special doctrine'. He had elucidated only human related meanings according to the hymns.
