Recollects Jewish life in Snyatyn under the rule of Franz Josef, and his service in the Austrian Army during World War I. With the end of the war, antisemitism increased throughout Central and Eastern Europe. The restoration of the Polish Republic, the civil war in Ukraine, and the wars to define the state borders of Poland brought about anti-Jewish pogroms with thousands of victims. Antisemitism marked the whole interwar period of Polish independence. ǂc (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism).
