Site index must, therefore, be adjusted for stand density. Figures 1 and 2, and tables 1 through 7 have been prepared for field use in estimating site index for lodgepole pine. They are applicable to lodgepole pine stands in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and eastern Washington and Oregon.2 Information necessary to understand field application of the site index curves and instructions for their use are presented in this paper.
