This report presents an overview of this situation with regard to three interrelated issues: the size & nature of the pool of available candidates; institutional policies & practices related to faculty recruitment; and possible difficulties in retaining faculty who are hired. The report then makes recommendations for consideration by various stakeholder groups (institutions, government, & the Higher Education Commission) to address those issues. The appendix contains a summary of the Symposium on Faculty Recruitment & Retention in the Maritimes.
