Today he is a retired Air Force Chaplain with 22 years of military service including the four Navy years. He is an ordained pastor in the United Church of Christ with 35 years of ministry background. His pastoral leadership includes being Senior Pastor of three local churches in Pennsylvania. As an Air Force Chaplain he has served in six states and four countries. He has been engaged in the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm. Heckman has been married to the former Mary Jane Hicks for thirty-eight years. They have one daughter and one grandson.
