Book excerpt: The essence of this story is about a community coming together and making it sronger and a better place to live. From this story, children can learn about caring for their neighbors and include all people, no matter of race, color, or creed. A neighbor decides to have a community garden party. She wants to bring friends and acquaintances together to build a better community. She enlists two children who live next door to help greet and serve her guests. Her event invitations are delivered by hummingbirds and bees. At her party, she is serving spring water and special appetizers like a plant fertilizer. There is a special guest invited, a botanist, to give a talk on "How to Look Your Very Best." The party is a succcess. Each guest is given a bottle of sunshine to take home with them. It is almost ruined by a swarm of aphids but they are thwarted by the hostess. Everyone can not wait until the next garden party. When will it be? Who will be the next guest speaker? We will just have to wait and see.
