Book excerpt: In 1999, roundwood output from Alabamagass forests totaled 1.2 billion cubic feet. Mill byproducts generated from primary manufacturers amounted to 469 million cubic feet. Almost all plant residues were used primarily for fuel and fiber products. Pulpwood was the leading roundwood product at 641 million cubic feet; saw logs ranked second at 426 million cubic feet; veneer logs were third at 109 million cubic feet. The number of primary processing plants was 181. Total receipts amounted to 1.3 billion cubic feet.
