Book excerpt: Army Regulation 635-40 Personnel Separations Disability Evaluation for Retention, Retirement, or Separation 21 December 2017 This regulation prescribes Army policy and responsibilities for the disability evaluation and disposition of Soldiers who may be unfit to perform their military duties due to physical disability. As such, this regulation implements the requirements of Title 10, United States Code, Chapter 61; DODI 1332.18, DODM 1332.18 (Volumes 1 through 3), and DOD policy memorandums to these issuances; and Army Directive 2012-22 as modified by DODI 1332.18. This regulation incorporates the policy formerly prescribed by AR 600-60 for the administrative determination of a Soldier's medical deployability and implements the revisions to the determination prescribed by Army Directive 2012-18.
