Typically, when one hears piano music from this time period, one knows it is Spanish in origin. There are certain traits common to Spanish composers that lend this sense. Such exemplary composers include Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909), Enrique Granados (1860-1909), Manuel de Falla (1876-1846), Joaquin Turina (1882-1949), and Federico Mompou (1893-1987). These five well-known composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries utilized stylistic traits that encompass these commonalities.
