Book excerpt: Excerpt from Charter, Constitution and by-Laws, of the Association for the Relief of Jewish Widows and Orphans: Incorporated March 14th, 1855 The said Association shall be located in the city of New Orleans, and therein have its domicil, and all Judicial process shall be served on the President or acting President thereof. The duties and powers of the Board of Officers collectively, and severally, the duties, rights, privileges and qualifications of mem bers and applicants for membership, the amount and manner of dues, contributions, and formalities, which it may be necessary to define or enforce, and all other matters appertaining to the govern ment and welfare of this Association, shall be more fully and clearly established by such Rules and by-laws as may be hereafter adop ted by the corporation, in general meeting convened. And we bind ourselves, our associates and successors, to con form to the provisions of the foregoing act of Incorporation in every particular, until the same shall be modified and changed according to Law.
