Recent research indicates there are many head injuries which are not reported. Frequently, athletes and coaches do not know adolescents have signs and symptoms of concussions. This article describes the importance of high school concussion training for staff, coaches, students, parents/guardians, and the community. A detailed step-by-step description of how to create a high school concussion program is discussed. The article defines concussion, discusses prevention and education related to adolescent sports, and explains assessment, clinical management, and return to play activity.
