Book excerpt: Objectives:To evaluate the impact of cognitive training on the cognitive performance of older adults with and without cognitive impairment. Background:Computerized cognitive training (CCT) belongs to the non-pharmacological interventions that can potentially affect cognitive performance. The study assessed whether this type of stimulation can improve cognitive performance of older adults. Materials and Methods:31 seniors were included in EG (F/M: 22/9; mean age: 73.6; mean MoCA: 24.2), 20 in CG (F/M: 15/5; mean age: 70.0, mean MoCA: 23.5). CCT lasted 9 session (1 x week, 90 min., home tasks), individual and group computer tasks, psychoeducation with a professional trainer. EG and CG were homogeneous (sociodemographic variables, results of GDS and RBANS tests) in T1. Cognitive functioning (MoCA) were following: cognitive norm: 10/8; MCI: 19/9; dementia: 2/3. Psychological assessments (The Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status, RBANS, Geriatric Depression Scale, GDS) were performed in T1 and T2 in EG and CG.Results and Conclusions:The ANOVA analysis showed no clinically valid improvement in GDS.
