Book excerpt: The study empirically investigates the energy diversification scenario in resource-rich post-soviet countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia over the period 1992-2018 by employing Energy Mix Concentration Index (EMCI). The EMCI estimates exhibit that the countries have a medium level(0.3-0.7) of energy mix diversification index that is principally achieved thanks to the variety of fossil fuel energy sources without sufficient inclusion of renewable energy potential in the energy mix.
