Book excerpt: Forest Supervisor Cheryl Probert has prepared this Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (Final SEIS) for the Hungry Ridge Restoration Project to further evaluate old growth and cumulative effects to old growth under National Forest Management Act (NFMA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) consistent with Case No. 3:21-cv-00189-CWD Memorandum and Decision Order (June 24, 2022). The court in that case enjoined the Hungry Ridge Restoration Project and End of the World Project until the agency satisfies its obligations under the NFMA and NEPA. The court also remanded the decision. This Final SEIS supplements the effects to old growth documented in the Hungry Ridge Restoration Project Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS) alternatives, as presented in September 2020. The information in the Final SEIS was developed based on the comments received on the Draft SEIS. A Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register for the Draft SEIS on March 10, 2023. All comments that were received, including the names and addresses of those who commented, are part of the public record for this project and are available for public inspection. There is no change to the alternatives as presented in the Final EIS for Hungry Ridge Restoration Project (2020) or the preferred alternative.
