By traditions handed down from generation to generation and reported to us by members of the different branches, we find they agree that three brothers came to this coun try together and that one Of them was drowned. Leonard Hodge Loveland of Brighton, Ohio, goes further and is more explicit. He was 88 vears old when he wrote, and was interviewed. He had seen his great-grandfather, Elisha3. He says the tradi tion in his branch is that our family with two others, Smith and Kimberly, came from England. Loveland died on the passage. Smith, Kimberly, the Widow Loveland and her three sons came to America. One son was drowned in the Connecticut River. He died unmarried. The other two married. Loveland paid the passage of Smith and Kimberly from England for their services on the passage and for a stated time thereafter. Mr. Loveland was supercargo. After his death they kept the widow's accounts. Loveland was called Loveman by a good many Old people. He had heard his uncle, Isaac, say he knew twenty-two Lovelands in the Revolutionary Army, all from Wethersfield and Glastonbury.
