He married Christina Wolf in 1839. They and their four sons immigrated to America in 1849 and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Descendants and relatives lived in Milwaukee, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky and elsewhere.
