Book excerpt: A guide to the Pepsi-Cola bottles that were used after the company was reformed after the bankruptcy in 1931. The bottles used in the late 1930s and early 1940s were mostly reused beer bottles with paper labels attached. Starting in 1936 a few bottlers ordered new bottles with Pepsi-Cola or their company names embossed. In 1940 the national corporation introduced the new "PEPSI-COLA STANDARD BOTTLE" known as the "wave" bottle. Starting in 1943 ACL labels were applied to these bottles. The wave bottle was used until completely replaced by the "swirl" bottle by 1960.The book uses photos and text to illustrate the variations in these 1930s to 1950s bottles. Information on paper labels, manufacturers, and bottlers is included.
