Conversations around how they felt about issues and concerns in the community or in the world. How they felt about one another and their children, and all the family for that matter. Mom and dad used that opportunity at the kitchen table to express how there will be a time for unification and a time to embrace racial diversity in our community using Brown v. Board of Education as a great beginning. I am looking back on my childhood and reminiscing about how and what it was like growing up in this small town in Kansas, I realize it was a time that molded me into a confident and self-reliant person. Those childhood experiences and the friendships made in Hoisington helped me grow.
