Book excerpt: The Legend of the Rose is a story of love and life, a love that never dies, and a story of a power that when used for the wrong reason can make one cold and evil. It begins in the kingdoms of Glenview and Penrose, where there is a beautiful princess and a handsome prince who grow up together and fall in love. In another kingdom not so far away, a poor young servant is approached by a stranger who offers him anything his heart desires. What he desires most is power, and he will sell his soul to get it in order to become a great and powerful king. I invite you to read and see why. What I have to present to you is a fairy tale that I wrote for our second daughter, Cassandra, when she went to pick a rose from our garden and was pricked by a thorn. Not liking the fact the rose pricked her little finger, she asked why it had thorns, and thus, a story was created/born. Other than a self-publishing book, I have never been truly published.
