Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Propaganda for Reform in Proprietary Medicines In February, 1905, the Council on Pharmacy and Chemistry of the American Medical Association was organized to investigate the proprietary medicine ques tion and to pass on those preparations which should be up to the standard required of ethical proprietary medi cines. From time to time reports of this Council have appeared in the columns of the journal of the Ameri can Medical Association, and the journal has also con tained other matter relating to the question of nostrums and proprietary medicines not directly connected with the work of the Council. Requests have been received repeatedly for this or that number of the journal containing an article on the subject, and, as it has been impossible to furnish many of the copies asked for, it has been thought best to collect some of the matter and issue it in this reprint form. The matter is reprinted from the journal, either in full or in abstract, and the date on which the original article appeared is given.
