Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Wheat Situation, Vol. 91: September-October 1945 The 1945 wheat crop is indicated at million bushels, made up of Spring wheat production of 313 million bushels (indicated in October) and winter wheat of 837 million bushels (indicated in August). The total produo tion exceeds the previous record of million bushels last year by near ly 7 percent. Spring wheat production is the fourth largest on record and nearly equal to last year's crop of 315 million bushels. Winter wheat produc tion is the largest ever produced in the Urited States and about one1tenth more than the 76h million bushels produced last year. The total acreage seed ed for the 19u5 crop was million acres and.the yield per seeded acre was bushels, compared with the l93h - L3 average of million acres and bushels, respectively. The indicated production of wheat by classes, in million bushels, is as follows: hard red winter 52h, soft red inter2h3, hard red spring durum 3l, and White wheat 107. This year's large wheat crop is reflected in larger production than last year in each class of Wheat except hard red spring, particularly in the hard red winter and soft red winter classes.
