Book excerpt: Overlaid on the change in teaming structure was a change in the method of service delivery: Rather than directly “treating” the child, the current role of the primary service provider in this model is principally to impart information and recommendations to the family that will prove supportive. Early intervention practitioners thus act as “coaches” to build the capacity of family members and other important care providers to promote the child's learning and development (Coaching in Early Childhood Org, 2011). This study also examined the opinions of team members and CLDE families regarding the implementation of this more family-centered approach to service provision.
